If you use Outlook email account wizard to setup your Gmail account, it will automatically configure it as IMAP. Scores of users, however, does not take a fancy to IMAP protocol as it is slow and somehow incompatible with Outlook – sometimes it takes long minutes for your email to synchronize between Gmail and Outlook. POP3 is faster than IMAP but allows you to download messages from Gmail account only by one machine. Setting up POP3 Gmail account can be either quite difficult or easy because it can be done in two ways. One way is manual – the only way Outlook offers. The easier way requires only using a simple free tool called CodeTwo Outlook AutoConfig which, as the name suggests, will configure POP3 email account in Outlook automatically.
